Flax Seed Oil (with Lignans)
is a convenient plant source
alternative to fish oils. Experts
once believed
the best sources of omega-3
were fish oils, but more recently
it was found that flax seed
oil contains
twice as much omega 3 as
fish oils do.
This is not to say that fish
oils are not a good source of
EFAs (essential fatty acids).
The capsules are very good
to replace liquid oil as many
do not like the taste of oils,
nor do they like fish
smells and taste. The soft
gel capsules are quite large
but they are soft and smooth
and are easier to
swallow than a tabule of
the same size.
Lineolic acid is an essential
fatty acid that cannot be manufactured
within the body and the same
applies to Lignans.
Lignans provide the nutrition
to stimulate immune activity.
Omega-3 oil nutritionally
supports the immune and circulatory/heart
systems.
Omega-6 oil nutritionally
supports the glandular and structural
systems.
Omega-9 oil nutritionally
supports the respiratory system.
EFAs are well documented
and well studied by scientific
sources.
They are precursors to prostaglandins,
which are described as: any
of a class of unsaturated fatty
acids
that are involved in the
contraction of smooth muscle,
the control of inflammation
and body
temperature, and many other
physiological functions. Anti-inflammatories.
EFAs nutritionally assist
by keeping the saturated fats
mobile in the bloodstream, maintaining
already
normal levels of cholesterol
and stickiness of blood platelets,
construction of healthy cell
membranes,
maintaining nerve health,
kidney health, immune activity
and providing beneficial phytoestrogens,
(which
are described as: a naturally
occurring compound of plants,
such as soybeans and flax, or
plant
products, such as whole grain
cereals, that act like, or mimic
estrogen in the body).
