BLESSED THISTLE

BLESSED THISTLE IS NUTRITION FOR:

Female reproductive system, liver, appetite, digestion, lactation, inflamed and/or febrile situations, yeast situations and imbalances.

 

BLESSED THISTLE DESCRIPTION:

Blessed thistle is generally used to provide nutrition for liver function, the female reproductive system and also to improve digestion. It may also provide the nutrition to promote breast feeding.

 

It is a very bitter herb.

 

When there is loss of appetite this herb may help, especially if the loss of appetite is associated with depression.

 

It can also be applied as a poultice for aching areas. The herb is usually put onto a soft cloth, heated and applied to the injured areas. Be careful with the amount of heat applied.

 

Blessed Thistle is used as a flavouring for food and drinks in some countries, with authorised approval.

 

Common names: Blessed thistle, holy thistle, spotted thistle.

BLESSED THISTLE CONTAINS:

Blessed Thistle: leaves, flowers and stems.

 

Other ingredients: Gelatin and water capsule.

 

Properties: Alterative, cephalic, cholagogue, digestive tonic, emmenagogue, galactagogue, hepatoprotective, nervine, stomachic, tonic.

 

Nutrients: Bitter glycosides, including cnicin (a type of sesquiterpene lactone), alkaloids, volatile oil, tannins, mucilage, sesquiterpene lactones (digestion), lignans.

 

BLESSED THISTLE PRECAUTIONS:

Use in small doses as great excess may cause vomiting.

 

If you are allergic to plants in the Asteraceae/Compositae family, e.g. bitter weed, blanket flower, chrysanthemum, coltsfoot, daisy, dandelion, dwarf sunflower, goldenrod, marigold, prairie sage, ragweed, and others, then it is wise to avoid Blessed Thistle.

 

If on any drugs for any problem at all, check first to see if this herb is compatible.

If pregnant or lactating seek advice first.
